Saving Christmas Review

With Christmas nearly upon us, many of us will soon be gearing up for all of the time-honored traditions that accompany the season. Along with all of the colors, smells, and decorations, there is a new character during Christmas that seems to drain the fun out of the season: The Modern Day Scrooge. We all know this new Scrooge; he is the one that points out everything that is wrong with our Christmas Traditions.
Kirk Cameron stars in this movie, and when confronted with tough issues, Cameron provides biblical and historical perspectives that will open the eyes of the biggest opponent to any of these traditions. Cameron exposes a “war on Christmas” that is coming not from outside biblical community but from within. This movie is a must for those who enjoy the time-honored traditions of lights, trees, toy soldiers, and, yes, even jolly old Saint Nick. It is an enjoyable look at the actual evidence as well as how to respond in a loving way to those who would try to strip those traditions from the Christmas season. In fact, watch Saving Christmas with them and allow the movie to do the talking for you. This is a great movie that the whole family can all watch and enjoy; my family loved it.

"Join me, and my family, and together let’s put Christ back into Christmas. We’ll dive head first into all of the joy, the dancing, the celebration, the feasting, the imagination and traditions that glorify the true reason for the season.” - Kirk Cameron

Saving Christmas is a wonderful defense of Christmas traditions and is quite educational. Candy and I also enjoyed some good laughs. I pray that God will use it to His glory.”

Alone Yet Not Alone Book Review

My Review:
We added this book to our homeschool curriculum since we were studying about this time in history. My 9 year old LOVED it and can't wait to see the movie! It was such a good book and to be honest I hated to quit reading it every day. It is a book filled with action, adventure, and faith. I love the strength and love for Christ this family had and because Barbara and Regina were raised with such a love for the Lord these two girls were able to endure so much and still remain strong in their faith. At the end of the book it gives a page of discussion questions which also opened up great dialogue with our kids. I feel we are better people having heard this powerful story of faith.

Here is a little more info on the book (and the movie!!) and if you would like a chance to win a copy just leave a comment below:)

This historic book is recommended for children ages 8 and up and is a read they are guaranteed to love. It combines great adventure with even greater values - kids won't even realize they are learning about history!
About Alone Yet Not Alone:

Settled in the Blue Mountains of Pennsylvania, deep within America's new frontier, the Leininger family celebrates the blessings of a beautiful homestead and bountiful harvest. That is, until tragedy strikes with the beginning of the French and Indian War and the devastating raid known as the Penn's Creek Massacre.

The lives of this simple, God-fearing family are forever altered when Barbara and Regina, two young sisters, are carried away by a band of Allegheny warriors. Driven by their faith in God and the powerful bonds of family, Barbara and Regina hole firmly to the belief that they are never alone, even in their darkest hour, and that they will be reunited again.

Rich in historical details, Alone Yet Not Alone is an inspirational, true story of a family caught in the cross fire of the French and Indian War.
The feature film will be released in theaters June 13th 2014!!!!

About The Author:
Tracy Leininger Craven loves history and retelling real-life stories in her historical fiction books. She also loves spending her free time in the great outdoors with her husband David and their three children.

Unstoppable Review and Giveaway!!

Seriously, this is a dream come true...ok more like an answered prayer!

Kirk and I go way back (although he doesn't realize this:))! Like many of you I grew up watching Growing Pains. I would like to say I never missed an episode but I would be lying. I will never forget the day I missed my one and only episode. I had been looking forward to it all week and the night had finally arrived (I believe it was a Tuesday). I was so EXCITED until my mom grounded from the TV for not washing the dishes:(....

He also spoke at my church a few years back. I just happened to be 10 month pregnant and it was pouring down rain and there were no parking spots for miles so I had not choice to miss my one and only chance to meet KIRK CAMERON!

Ok, back to my answered prayer! My entire childhood I prayed for Kirk Cameron to come to know Christ has his Lord and Savior. Needless to say that prayer was answered and it has been nothing but complete joy to see the work the Lord is doing in and through him!

My hubby and I set down to watch with much anticipation. It was awesome to see my little ones (ages 3-15) wander into the room one by one and was quickly hooked as well. We truly loved it.

Who hasn't experience tragedy and heartache? Unfortunately there is no way getting around it in this sinful world:( This movie was filled with inspiration and encouragement. I think my children particularly loved the stories of the Bible come to life. I loved how he took us to the beginning of creation to show us how we got to where we are.  He does a wonderful job of presenting the gospel and reminding us that God is good and faithful.

It is definitely a must see!

Oh, did I mention I am giving away a copy!!! All you have to do is leave a comment below for a chance to win.  I will draw a winner in 2 weeks! Check back to see if it's you:)
