King's Faith Review and Giveaway!

My daughter and I  just had the opportunity to watch King's Faith and wow! We loved it! It is a great movie to watch with your older children. This movie is rated PG 13 for violence, drug content and thematic elements. It is not a movie that my little ones would see:)

I found it to have a positive message and lead to great conversation with my 14 year old. I hope that it will inspire many to get involved with their local foster care program and make a difference in the lives of children in the foster care system.

About KING'S FAITH
Eighteen foster homes. Nine arrests. One life-changing moment.
After Brendan King’s life spiraled to rock bottom, the teen found hope in a new relationship with Christ while serving time in a juvenile penitentiary. Recently released from prison, Brendan finds solace in the foster home of a couple struggling with suppressed grief.
As the city-bred teen enrolls at a suburban high school, he finds support from a group of believers. Yet the bonds of his old way of life—and the gang that wants to know where he hid their stash on a long-ago night—are strong. In his darkest moment, Brendan found faith. Now he must decide if it’s worth the price to hold on to it.

KING’S FAITH stars Emmy Award winning actress Lynn Whitfield (The Women of Brewster Place, Madea’s Family Reunion), Crawford Wilson (Judging AmyZoey 101), Kayla Compton (Entourage), and James McDaniel (Malcolm XNYPD Blue).
KING’S FAITH features the themes of courage, forgiveness and overcoming your past highlighted with the important message of youth in foster care. The film prompts audiences to consider many of the questions they struggle with today: How can I stand firm in my faith when life’s challenges put me to the test?   Where do I turn when I feel paralyzed by loss and grief?  Can I find true forgiveness from my wrong choices?

Audrey Bunny is such a precious story of a little stuffed bunny with a spot on his chest. He is so worried that no one will ever love him because he is imperfect but one day a little girl walks in the toy store and chooses him to love. It has a beautiful story line and great pictures. I especially loved the Parent Connection on the last page that gave  a special opportunity for me to share and discuss the book with my children about God's love for us even though we are imperfect.

Bash and the Pirate Pig- GIVEAWAY!

Our first read aloud of the school year was Bash and the Pirate Pig! It was a great story that always had us laughing. I chose this book for two reasons: I was a city girl that moved to the country in 5th grade and my son who was a city boy has moved to the country in 2nd grade and this is where we currently live! We could relate to this book in many ways. I can remember as a young girl boys talking at school about going cow tipping and snipe hunting. We had a good laugh at the characters in the book as they experienced some of the same adventures we did as kids! I also loved as a parent how the author wove his faith into the pages of the book. We give it two thumbs up!

If you would like an opportunity to win the book leave a comment below and I will randomly pick a winner this evening! Best of luck!

About Bash and the Pirate Pig

Bash and the Pirate Pig, by Burton Cole, is the story of a cranky city kid named Raymond "Beamer" Boxby who must spend summer vacation at his younger cousin, Bash's, farm.

Beamer prefers air conditioning and video games. He can't see what good can come of this so-called country fun that includes riding cows, river rafting with a pig, or playing with skunks.

But hang tight, Beamer, because Bash's zany adventures with his "Fishin' and Farmin' book" (The Bible) just might lead to the coolest discovery of all.

About the Author

He grew up on a farm in northeast Ohio and attended a small-town church with a slew of cousins and buddies. That same boyhood inspires his colorful stories today.

Can't Wait Willow- Giveaway!

Can I just say, I LOVE THIS BOOK!!

Oh, how my kids needed to hear this! Every time my kids get a dollar they want to blow it on junk! I try to tell them these little trinkets they waste their money on will only end up in the garbage by the end of the week but time and time again they never listen. So, you can imagine the joy I had when I sat down to read this book about a little girl who just couldn't say no to anything!

This is a beautifully illustrated hard back book with a wonderful message to children and parents alike! This book will definitely be a book that we read and read again! Even better news, this is the first in the series and I can not wait to get the rest!

About Shine Bright Kids:
The Shine Bright Kids series provides children and their families with a relevant framework to help instill solid values and teach the importance of making good choices. The principles that will be explored include: using good judgment, taking responsibility, having a positive attitude, and demonstrating perseverance.
About the Author:  (Recognize the last name Ziglar?!?)
Christy Ziglar, financial planner, mother of twins and niece of legendary motivator and the world’s original optimist, Zig Ziglar, is bringing the same timeless wisdom and ageless advice to an entirely new, younger audience through her new Shine Bright Kids picture book series.
Christy is available for Q&A, author interviews, Skype calls, etc.!

The first book in the series:  Can't-Wait Willow!
Willow is so excited that the Over-the-Top Circus has finally come to town! The only problem is, that when left to her own devices, she can’t say “no” to some good things. On the way to the show, she is distracted by enticing treats and fun that she just can’t turn down. Willow arrives late and is sad to find that, not only has she has run out of time, but money, and she won’t be able to enjoy the pink cotton candy she’s been dreaming of. Willow is given valuable advice and a second chance and is ultimately taught the lesson that sometimes in life you have to say “no” to good things to end up with something great!

Awesome New Children's Book and Giveaway!

Have you ever asked yourself....why didn't I think of that?!?!?!

Here is one of those times!

I had the privilege of reviewing the first in a series of fabulous books by Troy Schmidt! Seriously, you are going to kick your self and when I tell you this and think "why didn't I think of that!" These books are stories taken from the Bible only this time you get to hear the other side of the story!

The book I reviewed was "Hey God, I've Got Some Guy Named Jonah In My Stomach and I think I'm Going to Throw Up!" We have heard Jonah's side of the story so now it's time to hear the whales side! How clever is this!!!

My kids absolutely LOVED the book and we look forward to reading them all! We have had to read this book 3 nights in a row for our bedtime story:)

About the Book:
Oh sure, we've all heard the story of Jonah and the Whale a hundred times.
But have we heard it from the perspective of the whale who experienced the history-making event?
Hey God, I've Got Some Guy Named Jonah in My Stomach and I think I'm Gonna Throw Up! Imagine how that great sea creature from the incident might tell his side of the story, helping kids age 4-8 discover a creative way of learning about that guy who was supposed to go to Ninevah. The "Parent Connection" feature (inside the book) will help moms and dads take the story further with scripture references and tips on how to talk with their children about what really happened.

About the Author:

This Is Our Time Review and GIVEAWAY!!!

Just one look at the cover and I could not wait to watch this movie!! To seize God's calling...how exciting!! It did take me a bit to get completely interested in it but before long I was hooked. I absolutely LOVED the message and could completely related to several of the characters. So let me tell you about it:

About This Is Our Time
The movie tells the interwoven stories of Luke (T.J. Dalrymple) and AlĂ© (Erin Bethea), who marry right after school and move to India to serve as missionaries for Embrace A Village, a ministry that cares for those afflicted with leprosy and their families; aspiring financier Catherine (Kate Cobb), who joins a prestigious financial institution determined to make an impact on corporate America; Ryder (Matthew Florida), who lands an impressive job in social media and can’t wait to use the powerful medium for a greater good; and Ethan (Shawn-Caulin Young,) seemingly the odd man out, who struggles to find his God-given-purpose and feels sidelined by God.
“What they all come to learn is that it never really was their time,” Arnold said. “It always was, always is, God’s time.”

My 3 year old Dylan and 2 year old Nate LOVE watching the newest VeggieTales movie:

Will the Little Piggies make the right choices when it comes to building their houses - and their lives - on solid ground? Find out in this parable that shows kids when they follow God's blueprints, then can stand strong when the storms come!

OUR REVIEW:

As I said, it was a crowd pleaser with our totsJ  They have asked to watch it over and over again! I think it would be the perfect gift for your child’s Easter basket this year!

Their favorite part was all the songs! They danced and sang along throughout the show. Larry teaches us a new silly song “Happy Tooth Day!”

Dylan said his favorite part was Bob and LarryJ “I love them.”

As a Christian Mom, I am always pleased with Veggie Tales. They teach our children the stories of the Bible in a fun way they will always remember. I love the parable of the wise and foolish builders and thought it was very clever to incorporate “The Three Little Pigs!” They also do a wonderful job retelling the classic Humpty Dumpty story “The Good Egg of Gooseville.”

Abel's Field GIVEAWAY!!!

Friends, are you looking for a good movie for family movie night?? Look no further!!

One of our cherished family traditions is family movie night! It is a great time to get unplugged from our cell phones and the Internet and cuddle up together on the couch and watch a movie.

As I've grown in my walk with Christ it has become more and more important to me to honor my Lord through the things I let enter my house via television, movies, and music. I cherish the movies we find that support good morals and my faith in Christ.

This movie gave us an opportunity to talk about trials we may face in our life and how we respond in the midst of those trials. It also gave us a great opportunity to talk about showing compassion to others as well as a topic that many of our children face during their youth- bullying.

I give this movie 5 stars! It is definitely one you would want to add to your collection!

For a chance to win today leave a comment!

The 5 Money Personalities GIVEAWAY!!!

Let me share with you one of my many quirks….
I love reading financial planning books! Always have since my early 20’s! You name them, I’ve read them. I have done every budget worksheet, class, and financial guide out there. I love paying bills each month and watching my debit get smaller and smaller!
I recently read a “money” book that completely stands out from the others. The 5 Money Personalities by Scott and Bethany Palmer helps couples get to the bottom of their money arguments and gives you a way to start working together.
My husband and I read through this book together and for the first time had money conversations that didn’t end up in a heated argument! I must admit I went through the money personalities and labeled my husband right away! However, I was totally wrong!! The more we talked the more I realized that my husband was not the risk taker I had tagged him to be but more of a flyer! Through our sharing we both began to realize a lot of good and not so good things about ourselves. I never realized how some of my money behaviors affected him vice versa.  Now that we know each other’s personalities we can not only better understand each other but we have learned a new respect for each other. We are now more aware of how personalities affect each other and are on our way to building a strong and healthy money relationship.
I will leave you with this quote from the book:
“Every marriage begins with a million dreams. And now you can get those dreams back. With every decision you make together, you will be one dream closer to the life you imagined on your wedding day.”
